I’m back with more
pictures and a (half) new outfit from my road trip first stop in New Orleans. There
will be one more after this one and then I will move onto new locations,
heehhe. New Orleans is just so picturesque and photogenic that I couldn’t get
myself to stop snapping pictures. I opted to carry only my IPhone as it would
be too cumbersome to carry my large Canon. I was more dedicated to my enjoying
the vacation then the blog, I know. But who can blame me, right?
On our visit to New
Orleans, I could not skip a trip to the swamp to check out some gators. I was
really looking forward to riding on the airboat and seeing the alligators up
close in their natural habitat. You will pardon my messy hair in the photos.
There is only so much you can do when the wind is involved, hehehe.
I absolutely enjoyed
the nature. Such a difference from northern climate and northern lakes and
forests. I was asking about the houses which around the swamp and what is the
point of being on the border of the water, if one cannot swim. I learned that
gators are very shy animals and usually avoid people. They rarely attack, only
when really hungry or cornered. Locals do swim in these waters. Now, soon after
that there was a sad incident of a boy being snagged by an alligator in
Florida, so I would not dare to ever swim here. There are also extremely
poisonous water snakes here, so who is crazy enough to go swimming? But being
on the boat was a lot of fun. Alligators were attracted to approach the boat by
marshmallows, which what locals call swamp cocaine.
Can you imagine my
fear and excitement when the guide brought out his own baby alligator? Well he
is actually not a baby, he is 3 years old. But I learned that alligators adapt
to their environment, and as he kept it in an aquarium it did not grow past his
current size. I expected the skin to be rough but it was beyond soft. He was
such a cutie and a trooper, patiently waiting to be passed around like a toy,
for everyone to touch him. I caught myself wanting one for a pet, then I
remembered I’m against wild animals being used as pets. Sadly, we had to say
bye to the little cutie. The guide’s name was Rich and he named his pet alligator
Dollar. Funny, no?
Once back in the
city, a bike ride around was a must. I managed to make some more furry friends.
What can one do. I got so much love to give! Heheheh
As for the outfit, what can I say? It was hot, I was going to the swamp, I needed comfort. Yes, I am wearing the same Levi's jeans as in the last post. I said they were my favourite, didn't I? hehehe Top is from Mexico. I simply tied it into a crop top. I am wearing it in reverse because I waned a white top. Embroidery is meant to be in front. Sneakers are from Forever 21 ($8) but you can find similar in H&M.
Anyone else been to
New Orleans? I would love to hear what you loved about it.
Ciao!
