If you have been
following me for some time, you know that last year I took 6 months off and one
of the things I did during that time is take a road trip through Italy. First
stop was Venice and you can read more about it in this post as well as here.
Third stop on the trip
(yes I know I skipped the second, but we’ll return to it another day) was Milan.
Since I was a little girl, Milan was a place I really wanted to visit. I had
such high expectations; partially due to it being one of fashion capitals,
partially due to the beautiful Duomo of Milano, and because it was on my bucket
list since I was a kid. I don’t quite know why, it just always was.
Well, needless to say
Duomo di Milano is absolutely stunning and a must see when visiting this big city.
Walking the roof of the cathedral will leave you breathless. Just imagining how
many man hours were spent making this marvel of a structure. Pictures just partly
demonstrate its beauty.
Right next to it is Galleria
Vittorio Emanuele II which has many high end stores and restaurants but
tourists mostly stop in to take pictures, hehehe.
Though the city is
beautiful and great for shopping for all budgets, it does not get the highest
rating of all the places I visited in Italy. Make sure to get away from the
cathedral and explore other parts of Milan. I recommend visiting part of the
city called Little Venice. It’s great to shop vintage stores or unique little
boutiques. And when you get tired, grab a drink on one of many patios by the
canal.
I loved (as usual)
getting lost in the streets of Milan between the cathedral and the Little
Venice, away from usual tourist attractions. Streets were still filled with
people but mostly locals, and an occasional tourist.
We planned to stay
longer but ended up staying only 2 days. I felt it was enough time to visit
everything I wanted to see. The weather was not the best either while we were there.
It was very foggy and chill until about 3pm at which time sun would come out
for a few hours. Being that it was already October and fall, days were much shorter
so evenings were getting cooler as well.
Today, I’m sharing outfits I wore on both of those days.
First is a midy dress from H&M. I bought it couple of sizes bigger just because I preferred a looser look to it. The shoulders still fit me perfectly, so it didn’t look big on me. It was great with leather jacket and cinched in at the waist with the waist bag. But I will share another look with the same dress but without a belt, in one of later posts. Stay tuned.
Second outfit was simple mom jeans (second day in Milan was much cooler) worn with this shirt from Bershka I had bought just a day earlier. What I love about the shirt is that it has buttons on the side which you can open or leave buttoned as you need. When unbuttoned, it makes it easier to do a semi tuck, like I’m wearing here. The material is soft cotton and falls wonderfully on the body. This is especially important for us bigger chested girls, right? I loved mixing the red stripes with pink coat. Who ever said pink and red don’t go well together is VERY wrong!
Hope you enjoy the pictures and the outfits. Let me know which one you like better.
