Hiking in the Niagara Escarpment in a Sporty Outfit

Today I’m doing a post quite different from anything I posted before. I did not initially plan to do it. I had brought the camera to take pictures of the nature, but we ended up taking a few outfit pictures as well.
I love the city and everything the city brings, but just the same, I love the nature as well. I find it’s important to have a balance between the two. I believe everyone would benefit mentally and physically if they spent some time in nature at least couple of times a month. After all, we are part of it, aren’t we? One of the things I love doing is hiking. I remember fondly of all the times I went hiking with my grandpa in the mountains and hills of Serbia when I was a kid. It’s unbelievable how much nature can relax all your senses. Even if you have little ones, it’s a fun thing to do for all.
Not too long ago I went hiking in Milton area, part of Niagara escarpment. It’s hard to find mountains in Ontario, so this was the closes we could get to.  We ended up hiking for 6 hours, and though I was really sore the next day (muscles I didn’t even know existed), I felt re-energized.I was quite surprised by my dog's energy to do the entire hike with us. He is getting very old and has arthritis on his spine. He has not been able to walk long distances for some time now. But somehow, that day, he did not tire at all and jumped around as if he were young again. Nature definitely did him some good too.
Hiking of course is not a place for fashion. But you can still make your outfit more interesting than just plain sports jacket and leggings. Why not wear a casual cotton button up shirt instead? I went with leggings on the bottom, as I consider them the most comfortable to wear for hikes. On top I wore this amazing Under Armour sports bra. It’s about time that sports companies are coming out with sports bras with cup sizes instead of just S, M, L as options. I find Under Armour to be the best at this. This is their new model that came out at SportsCheck and I love it. It provides support but also gives a nice shape. You can actually even wear it under racer back tops as well. You know those sports bras that flatten your chest? Well this one does not.
As I was not sure how warm or cool it was going to be in the forest, I decided to layer my outfit. I wore a couple of button up shirts: plaid and denim one, both from HM. Sure enough, denim one went into my back pack very quickly, as it was quite warm. A little top knot hairstyle, Ray-Bans which make any outfit cool and Michael Kors watch. Who says you can wear accessories to go hiking? Last but not least, to put the entire outfit together (and also carry my picnic necessities), the gorgeous (faux) leather back pack. It’s meant for the city, but works just as well in the nature, doesn’t it?
As fall is almost here, what better time to go hiking than now? Once the leaves start changing their colours, make sure you go exploring the nature at least one day. You will thank me J . Happy hiking!

Ciao!

Exploring Toronto Islands in Cropped Top & Jersey Skirt

Toronto Islands, outfit with sneakers, cropped top, sporty chic, structured bag, canadian blogger, top fashion bloggers
Sneakers All Star, skirt unknown Winners, crop top Forever 21, bag KGB Black Label (Winners), scarf on the bag - gift, sunglasses Aldo, midi rings H&M, Pearl ring Forever 21, bracelet gift

I figured it was time for a new post. Not just because it has been two weeks since the last one, but also because I have this outfit today and couple of others already shot, that I have not shared with you yet. They are summer outfits so I should probably post them while summer is still here, right? Only makes sense J.
We’ve already established that I do a lot of bike riding in the summer, which is further supported with today’s post again. This was a fun weekend day. We headed to the Toronto Islands from my home on a bike. It took significantly less time then getting there with a car and finding a parking. We took one of the taxi ferries across and met up with some friends and two gorgeous little girls. It was an unplanned but fun day. We later did a Toronto Island tour on our bikes. Granted, you could do this on foot too, but it’s much quicker this way and you don’t get as tired. Along the way we checked out hidden beaches, stopped by a group of drum players and listened to them play some amazing beats (that’s where they practice, how fun!), we had some drinks, checked out the view of Toronto and few other little things in between. It was already getting dark by the time we headed back home. I love Toronto Islands. It’s a getaway from the city but only minutes away. And if you miss Toronto at any point of the day, just go over the other side and look at its beautiful panorama. Then resume your day of relaxation.
It was quite a hot day so I kept the outfit light. Nothing like light jersey skirt and cropped top to keep you cool. Skirt was stretchy and long enough in areas so it made it easy to ride a bike, without any unwanted “preview”, you know what I meanJ. It’s a sporty look for which I chose a more structured bag, to keep it looking more put together. Till next time my dears!

Ciao!

A Tourist in My Own Toronto

Jumpsuit, floral print, summer outfit, paysuit, Toronto
Jumpsuit Sheinside, wedges Aldo (old), earrings Forever 21 (old), sunglasses Aldo, bag unknown Marshall's, bracelets Alex&Ani

My, my, my how time flies! It’s September 1st already and we’re getting so close to the end of summer. Luckily the weather doesn’t agree with this so I am more than happy. How has your summer been?  I personally haven’t gotten away anywhere just yet, but hopefully soon. This year in general has not been developing according to my plans much, so why should my summer?!

One thing that I enjoy doing, especially in the summer, is having mini vacations in the city, or stay-cations. Usually people tend to do this on the weekends, but my weekends are usually overbooked as it is, so I often pick a random day in the week off work to do this. I love exploring the city on my bike. It seems to be my main accessory this summer on the blog, hehehe. I find that it’s the best way to explore. You get around the city easily, you can cross a much bigger area then just walking, but you can also just park it anywhere and continue your exploration on foot, stop grab a bite to eat, have a drink by the lake, walk in a park, and so on. Sometimes our lives are moving too fast and we tend to always be on a schedule, so these little mini home vacations are just perfect to break that routine and schedule, don’t you think?

So what do you chose to wear to do this? Well it’s up to you, but you don’t always have to choose a sporty outfit. Why not opt for a fun floral jumpsuit instead? It’s comfortable yet fashionable. Jumpsuits have been everywhere this summer and will keep strong right into fall. I personally think they never go out of style. This one I bought from Sheinside. If you have long legs, you may be out of luck here, as the leg length is a bit short. If you like to wear them cropped, then they will do just perfectly. And the material is so lightweight that you almost feel like you're not wearing anything.
And if you don’t want to wear flats or sneakers, wedges are just as good. Heels would make pedaling much more difficult, but wedges have a full sole, so they work just perfectly. You may have to lift your seat a bit though to accommodate for the extra few inches.

So when are you planning to have your little stay-cation and explore your city?

Ciao!
